Rediscovering Love and Intimacy. Do You Have an Exclusive Market Segment?.

Wendy started counseling with me because Terence, her husband of 14 years, had just expressed to her that he wanted to end their relationship. Wendy, terrified of being alone, was panicked. Within a few minutes of speaking with her in a phone session, I understood exactly the underlying cause of their relationship problems.

Wendy, coming from a family where she experienced much neglect, had a deep abandonment fear. In her family, Wendy had learned to be a caretaker, giving herself up and taking care of everyone else's feelings and needs. Wendy had learned to put her own feelings in a closet, hoping that if she took care of everyone else, someone would care about her.

Children and Divorce

As an adult, she continued in this pattern, taking care of her husband and children but completely neglecting to take care of herself. As a result, she was often very angry at Terence and her children when they didn't listen to her or approve of her.

People often end up treating us the way we treat ourselves. Because Wendy was treating herself as if she was unimportant, Terence and her children also treated her as if she was unimportant. Because Wendy didn't listen to herself, Terence and her children didn't listen to her. Her fury at Terence and her children for not seeing her or listening to her further alienated them from her. Terence had reached the point where he was no longer willing to be at the other end of Wendy's anger.

Rather than take emotional responsibility for her own well being, Wendy was making Terence and her children emotionally responsible for her. She was abandoning herself, just as her parents had abandoned her, and was expecting Terence to give her what she never received from her parents.

Terence was also not taking emotional responsibility. He had spent much of their marriage trying to make Wendy happy while ignoring his own feelings and needs. He vacillated between compliance and resistance. When he complied, Wendy felt better but he felt terrible from the sense of loss of himself. When he resisted, Wendy felt rejected and became enraged. Terence ended up feeling like he was a victim of Wendy. He blamed her for his misery and felt he no alternative but to leave.

I ended up working with both Wendy and Terence. Through working with the Six Step Inner Bonding process that we teach, Wendy learned to attend to her abandonment feelings herself rather than go after Terence or her children when these feelings came up. She learned that she was being self responsible rather than selfish when she took responsibility for her own feelings of safety, worth, lovability, happiness and joy, rather than making Terence responsible for making her feel safe and worthy. She learned that when she embraced the responsibility of listening to and taking responsibility for her own feelings, she no longer felt abandoned or angry.

Terence learned that he had another option other than compliance or resistance. He learned to take responsibility for his own feelings by telling Wendy his truth when she yelled at him or blamed him. Instead of being a victim, he learned to stand up for himself and set loving limits on how Wendy was treating him. He learned to say, "I don't like being yelled at. I don't want to be with you when you are yelling at me and blaming me for your feelings. If you can't treat me with caring and respect, then I don't want to talk with you or spend time with you. I don't like being with you when you treat me this way."

At first, Terence was reluctant to say these things to Wendy. He didn't want to hurt her feelings by telling her his truth. He felt his truth was harsh and that he would be unloving if he said these things. However, when he was willing to take the risk of speaking his truth, he found that Wendy was actually grateful to receive the truth. Rather than getting angry and hurt, she appreciated his honesty, and told him that he was helping her to learn and grow by telling her his truth.

Terence ended up not leaving. Over a period of a year of doing their inner work, their relationship completely changed. In fact, he and Wendy have achieved a new level of love and intimacy in their relationship, beyond what they had when they first fell in love.

The 30 Day Blueprint For Success!

You do if you're a business, non-profit or association manager with important external stakeholders whose behaviors affect your department, division or subsidiary the most.

In your own best interests, here's what you'd better be doing about them.

Accept the fact that the right PR actually CAN alter individual perception that leads to the kinds of changed behaviors that can help you succeed.

That confidence will position you to do something positive about those behaviors. Specifically, to create actual behavior change among your key outside audiences which leads directly to achieving your managerial objectives.

But is there a roadmap available that will get everyone working towards the same external audience behaviors, and that insures that your organization's public relations effort stays sharply focused?

There sure is, and the blueprint goes like this: people act on their own perception of the facts before them, which leads to predictable behaviors about which something can be done. When we create, change or reinforce that opinion by reaching, persuading and moving-to-desired-action the very people whose behaviors affect the organization the most, the public relations mission is accomplished.

What sort of results would you expect from such an approach? You could see membership applications on the rise; new proposals for strategic alliances and joint ventures; rebounds in showroom visits; enhanced activist group relations, and expanded feedback channels; as well as community service and sponsorship opportunities; not to mention new thoughtleader and special event contacts.

As the effort takes hold, you might see improved relations with government agencies and legislative bodies, stronger relationships with the educational, labor, financial and healthcare communities; prospects starting to work with you; customers making repeat purchases; and even capital givers or specifying sources looking your way.

The people running PR for you - agency, staff or freelance -- really have to be dedicated team members and committed to you, as the senior project manager, to the PR blueprint and its implementation, starting with target audience perception monitoring itself.

Think for a moment just how crucial it is that your most important outside audiences really perceive your operations, products or services in a positive light? Then question your PR people to assure yourself that they buy into that notion wholeheartedly. Be especially careful that they accept the reality that perceptions almost always lead to behaviors that can help or hurt your unit.

Take the time to go over the PR blueprint in detail with your team. Discuss your plan for monitoring and gathering perceptions by questioning members of your most important outside audiences. Review questions like these: how much do you know about our organization? How much do you know about our services or products and employees? Have you had prior contact with us and were you pleased with the interchange? Have you experienced problems with our people or procedures?

It's obvious that professional survey people can handle the perception monitoring phases of your program, IF the budget is available. However, remember that your PR people are also in the perception and behavior business and can pursue the same objective: identify untruths, false assumptions, unfounded rumors, inaccuracies, misconceptions and any other negative perception that might translate into hurtful behaviors.

Be careful as you set your public relations goal. You will need one that is well-defined, and one that responds to the aberrations that appeared during your key audience perception monitoring. The new goal could call for straightening out that dangerous misconception, or correcting that gross inaccuracy, or doing something about that damaging rumor.

As night follows day, your new goal will need a strategy to show you how to get there. Fortunately, you will have just three strategic choices for handling a perception or opinion challenge: create perception where there may be none, change the perception, or reinforce it. Unfortunately, a bad strategy pick will taste like sauteed onions on your pecan pie. So be sure the new strategy fits well with your new public relations goal. For instance, you don't want to select "change" when the facts dictate a "reinforce" strategy.

Because bringing people's minds around to your way of thinking is a tough assignment, your PR team must get busy immediately crafting the needed corrective language. Words that are compelling, persuasive and believable AND clear and factual. You must do this if you are to correct a perception by shifting opinion towards your point of view, leading to the desired behaviors.

Review your message for impact and persuasiveness with your communications specialists. Then, carefully select the communications tactics most likely to carry your words to the attention of your target audience. You can pick from dozens that are available. From speeches, facility tours, emails and brochures to consumer briefings, media interviews, newsletters, personal meetings and many others. But be sure that the tactics you pick are known to reach folks just like your audience members.

You might introduce your message to smaller gatherings rather than using higher-profile tactics such as news releases or talk show appearances. Reason being that the credibility of a message can occasionally depend on its delivery method being acceptable to each audience.

Everyone will want to see progress reports. For you and your PR colleagues, they sound the signal for you and your PR folks to return to the field for a second perception monitoring session with members of your external audience. Using many of the same questions used in the first benchmark session, you must now stay alert for signs that the bad news perception is being altered in your direction.

Things not moving fast enough? You can always accelerate matters with more communications tactics and increased frequencies.

Clearly, those important outside audiences constitute market segments that are exclusively yours, and you must do something positive about the behaviors of those outside audiences that MOST affect your organization. Thus, they are segments you will need to persuade to your way of thinking, then move to take actions that help your department, division or subsidiary succeed.

Who is responsible for maintaining the business relationship?

Nurturing a business relationship will take effort on your part and effort on the part of the other person. If you feel the business is worth having, then you must take the time to make sure you are in touch on a regular basis. I call these touch points. Each touch point you have with the client is a point in your favor. Most people like to keep the channels open for conducting current projects or for future business. I know a CEO of a company called Olympia Funding in Pleasanton California that has a policy for sending out personal letters to all his contacts at the end of every month. These are usually in the form of postcards with good information.

He also has his staff send "letters from the heart" each quarter. Through this touch point activity and a few other touch points, he is able to do millions of dollars of business without making cold calls. He has the referrals pouring in.

This CEO knows the value of maintaining the business relationship. If a multimillion dollar corporation takes the time to keep in contact, then you know that you must also put a plan together that creates an awareness of you. It is WHO knows YOU and not who you know that ultimately matters. At your next networking event, gather business cards and then make contact through email to set an appointment to find common ground, ask them if you can add them to your mailing list for your newsletter for up to date information that may help them. Take the time to work on being in touch; the results are amazing.

Another good way to nurture a relationship is to find out interests and keep a record of what those interests are. When you come across something of interest, send it to them, they will remember this when it comes to sending out an RFP. It is in your best interest to know more about them than they do about you.

One of my subscribers writes 'I can't hold my tongue any longer...not that that is fun or anything, I just had to tell you something! Just a tiny 'lil thing. You have 2 spaces after each period. Unless you are typing on an "old fashioned" typewriter, on a computer you use only one space. This is part of my business, graphic design. I hate to criticize but I know you want to be professional and that stands out. It creates a visual break in the copy making it like a stutter in reading. This is a common mistake for those not "in the field".'

I love that my subscribers are reading my copy carefully. My readers need this formatting tip to write their own copy. There's lots of contradictory information on www.google.com if you ask the question of 1 space or 2 spaces at the end of a sentence. Even though it isn't the subject of friendly mail, angry mail, or even 'thought you oughta know' mail, I am always open to tips from the graphic design side to help me improve my site.

Let's talk about the evolution of writing copy.

I learned in Journalism School to use 2 spaces at the end of a sentence because we were taught to write using a typewriter. We didn't even think about the why, but adding that extra space at end of each sentence was simply for readability until the personal computer became a household word and changed all that.

It helps to understand the lost language of 'typewriterese', because the letter "W" takes up as much space as a "1" on the original typewriter. Skinny letters take less space while wide letters take up more space so the extra space added after each sentence make it easier to see where one sentence stops and the next begins.

Just like the computer today, the space- efficient Linotype machine was a revolutionary machine used by newspapers and print shops. The operator filled each letter and space with a line o' type cast in lead. Wedges were used for spaces, rectangles for letters. If the operator used 2 spaces or 2 wedges it gummed up the line o' type, so only 1 space was used. Of course, the publishing industry embraced 1 space long before that and continues to follow that rule.

A copyeditor at The University of Chicago (Chicago Manual of Style) thinks, "In our efficient, modern world, there is not room for 2 spaces at the end of a sentence."

Publishers want single spaces after periods. Most desktop publishers believe desktop publishing (electronic type-setting) should follow the commercial publishers rule, "One space at the end of a sentence."

Two spaces can cause problems with line breaks in certain programs. Web pages use only one space between sentences. HTML is set up to only display one space no matter how many are typed. A browser, like Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer, will only display one.

Should sentences be separated by 1 or 2 spaces? Yes.

Domestic Violence is one of today's most common assault type crimes. It seems as if almost everyone either knows someone who was, or is a victim of domestic violence. Or, they either are, or were a victim themselves. There are a lot of myths associated with domestic violence that unfortunately are grossly misleading. In this article, I am going to address some of those myths and attempt to set the record straight. Who am I, and what qualifies me? Well I am a former Police Officer of over 14 years, and I am the author of the book "Crime Awareness 101."

Police officer and Law Enforcement Job Testing Tips

Throughout my career as a Police Officer I have dealt with a lot of domestic violence situations, and have seen first hand what this crime does to both its direct and indirect victims.

"Domestic Abusers are extremely violent people"

Though some domestic abusers are extremely violent people, they are actually the minority. Most of the domestic abusers we arrested never resisted or fought with us. Why? Because domestic abuse isn't about violence it's about control. The abuser wants to control their victim, and this control is enforced through physical violence, but the underlining fact is control. This is why they will not fight with the police, because they know they will not gain the control. Another example is say the abuser is at work, and his superior (who may even be a woman) asks him to do something that he may not want to do. He doesn't beat the superior up because he doesn't have the control. Yet at home, behind closed doors, he wants and gains the control. This is a difficult concept for many to understand. To help explain this better I have listed a few common control issues found in domestic abusers.

Monitoring the victim's comings and goings in great detail.
Isolating the victim from family or friends.
Discouraging the victim from working, joining organizations, attending school, or leaving the house.
Constantly accusing the victim of being unfaithful.
Belittling or humiliating the victim.
Controlling all finances and forcing the victim to account for what they spend in detail.
Destroying personal property or sentimental items.
Threatening to leave with the children or saying they will never see the children again.

As you can see domestic violence is a control issue. Actually the psychological damage done by this type of behavior is much greater then the actual physical abuse.

"Domestic Violence only happens to poor people."

Domestic Violence has no boundaries; it affects all levels of income. I had a one case where the domestic abuser was an educated male who made a six figure income. His victim (former live in girlfriend) was an educated female who made a nice income herself. They both had good jobs, and lived in an expensive condo. Well he had beaten her so badly that she was hospitalized with a closed head injury. Talking with her later she stated that she could not believe she found herself in this situation. She stated that her abuser was a white collar worker who actually appeared on the outside to be a harmless geek. In fact, her friends couldn't believe he was capable of this. A few days later we were called back to the residence to stand by as peace officers, while the woman packed up her stuff and moved out. During the time that we were there, I noticed how she couldn't stop trembling. She was so afraid that her abuser would come back, and attack her while she was there. This was to spite the fact that two Police Officers were with her the whole time (remember this was many days later). What is sad this was not the first time she was abused, but hopefully with her leaving it will be the last. In case you're curious yes he was arrested.

"

Non drug alternative, anxiety in children, teen stress, non drug alternative

Alcohol drug abuse, stress, and mental illness cause domestic violence"

This is not true, but is commonly used as an excuse from abusers who try to pardon their actions, and unfortunately their victims buy into this. Alcohol use, drug use, and stress do not cause domestic violence; they may go along with domestic violence, but they do not cause the violence itself.

"Domestic Violence is a personal problem between a husband and wife"

Domestic violence goes way beyond just the two immediate people involved. Look into a child's face that sees this violence everyday. Then go visit that child about 10 to 15 years later and see what they have become. If they are male, they will most likely become domestic abusers themselves. If they are female they will most likely become domestic victims themselves. Why? Learned behavior; this was their environment growing up, and to them, this is just acceptable behavior that people do. It takes a very strong person to come out of that type of environment and not have it become part of their adult lives. A child who lives with domestic violence will never forget it.

"If it were that bad, she would just leave."

Leaving a domestic violence situation is not so easy. Many times children are involved and the victim may not have any financial means of supporting themselves. Not only that, but they may fear that they will be killed if they leave. As strange as it may sound, some have a real psychological bond with their abuser, and just won't leave. I have had many instances were we arrested an abuser and the next morning his victim is begging us to release him and recanting her story. This is one of the reasons why the law has changed in many states. Now it is the state not the victim, who prosecutes the domestic abuser.

"I can change him."

This thought is the worst. For anyone who thinks this, read the following carefully NO YOU CAN'T! I have heard this so many times, all from victims who are beaten time and time again. Domestic violence is way too complex for any one person to handle, or fix. You have to either escape it, or have some sort of professional intervention. I would highly recommend escaping it. I have yet to see anyone who has stated this, ever change their abuser.

In closing I want to make one point clear. Even though in this article I referred to males as being the abusers. Females can be abusers also; it is just not as common. SELECTING THE RIGHT PERSON: To whom should tasks be delegated? Selecting the right subordinate to do the work is an evaluative process, and managers must be able to identify individuals both capable and willing to handle responsibility.

DETERMINING EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITY: A careful review should be made of past assumptions about personnel. Some employees' capabilities may be overestimated, others underestimated.

Pharmaceutical Sales Interviewing Tools

A personnel survey or personal interview is an excellent tool managers can use to reassess their subordinates, determine what additional duties each believes he or she can now adequately handle, and recognize the goals and direction toward which the employee aspires to advance. This will provide managers with insight into employee interests and aspirations, while pinpointing those presently qualified for delegation.

DELEGATING RESPONSIBILITY: A manager should also consider which subordinates have made independent decisions within the parameters of their position and authority, and whether these decisions were "right," even though they may not necessarily have agreed with past management decisions. Employees are certainly ready for more responsibility and authority when they have shown the ability to make decisions that are both innovative and correct.

After the evaluation process is completed, managers should be able to separate those subordinates to whom delegation can be made with a good chance of success from those who are unsuited. Then managers should show patience. Subordinates' ability to handle added responsibility and authority comes in stages.

When starting out, I highly recommend making your life easy, and getting the person to ask you a question out loud. Both parties should focus on the question while you shuffle the cards. As you get more experienced or confident with the cards, you won't care if they ask a question, but repeating the questioner's question out loud yourself does seem to assist the divination process.

Shuffle the cards until the person you are reading for feels it is "right" to stop or until you feel it is right to "stop". After you are done cutting, you need to cut the deck. Most readers divide the deck into three piles. At this point you can either have the person you are reading for pick which pile to pick up as the top of the deck, or you can pick them up in an order that feels right to you.

Tarot card readings

Another option is to fan the cards out face down, and have the person you are reading for pick out the cards they want you to read. Then lay them out in the order they are suppose to appear for the spread.

The One Card Spread: The One Card spread is the most concise of all spreads, intended to provide a quick take on a situation, or to reduce it to a single issue that you can meditate on. . Simply ask a question and then draw a card to divine the answer to your question. It is surprising to what extent these types of one-card readings can be exact, or even solve your problem for you.

The Three-Card Spread: This spread is good for yes or no questions. After you are done cutting the deck lay the cards out from left to right.

The eighth card represents how others see the person or the situation.

The ninth card represents the hopes and fears that the questioner might have for the future.

The tenth card represents the predicted outcome of the situation or the actual answer to the question.

Some individuals like to keep pulling an addition six to ten cards after this cross is laid down to determine what will happen in the future.

The Relationship Spread: The Relationship spread provides insight into the interaction between two people or entities. It is the spread of choice for questions about partnerships, be they in romance or business.

Have you heard the wise saying that a trader who fails to plan, plans to fail? I have, and I was once that trader! However, did you know that even though traders who have constructed a plan, which incorporates their trading stategy (their "edge"), they have a plan that is likely to fail?

If we look at all traders who participate

in the market: we have one group that fails to plan and therefore plans to fail; another group whose plan is failed; and a third group who properly plans and therefore does not fail.

Is it any wonder that the success rate for forex traders is so slim?

Well it doesn't have to be.

Here's a list of reasons why those whose plan is destined for failure fail:

1. They become emotionally attached to their ideas about how the market should be with minimal or inadequate testing;

2. They fall in love with their back-tested net profit results without fully understanding other key statistical data;

3. They don't admit they're plan is wrong.

Let's explore each point in a little more detail.

1. Becoming emotionally attached to your ideas without adequate results

Most new traders when they realize the importance of obtaining a trading plan and sticking to that plan immediately begin to use the knowledge they have been taught and haphazardly throw it all together into what they deem their "trading plan".

When they are questioned on whether they have a trading plan most of these traders answer with an unequivocal "Yes!".

Most of these traders are destined for failure because their strategy is untested. They rely on blind faith to guide them through the trading jungle to make their untold millions. Would you walk from one length of the Amazon jungle to the other blind-folded? Of course not! You'll have to watch out for all the snakes, tarantulas, and other creepy things that go bump in the night, so why would you approach trading in the same fashion? I mean all you're really doing is placing the blind-fold on your capital!

Why do traders do this?

Because it's easy. That's right... it's easy. They don't

need to learn a computer language to type their system into some piece of software that will take them the better part of 6 months to a year to learn, and they don't have to spend any money on buying historical data. Therefore it's easy and it's cheap and it also conserves time!

So does success meet lazy people like this?

Not many! However I will admit that it does meet a fortunate few - only those lucky enough to start their trading during roaring markets where even a monkey can make money! To repeat again: don't wear the blind-fold. Your success may be great at the start, but given time and trades, you'll be the one out of the game - having depleted all your capital.

So what do you do if you KNOW that your method is untested?

If you have the time, the money and the learning capacity I would strongly encourage you to purchase some back-testing software (such as Wealth-Lab Developer), acquire some forex data, ask heaps of

questions on the Wealth-Lab forum on how to code your ideas and within 3-6 months you'll be safely coding your own forex system and testing adequately.

If you do not have the time, the money nor the learning capacity I would strongly suggest that you manually write down your system into clearly defined steps that you MUST follow. Then, after opening a DEMO forex account you would trade your system according to the rules you have set out. Trading your rules until about 20 trades have been completed.

After traders obtain their results from their testing period they unfortunately look at only one figure and make a rash conclusion about the system based on that one performance figure, namely, the net profit. This then leads us into the next problem of why traders plans are failed prior to placing their first live trade...

2. They fall in love with the net profit result and no longer question it any further!

The net profit is only one statistic among thousands, however, to keep things simple we will look at the top 3 results that you need to make sure you fully understand.

Here are the other statistical pieces of data that you should look at when your system has completed its testing period:

If you have made a nice profit, but have only had 3 trades during the testing period you do not have a sufficient sample space to arrive at any safe conclusions. Can you imagine what would happen to Neil Armstrong if NASA had only done 3 computations on how they would arrive on the moon??!! If it's not good for NASA then it's probably not good for you either, however, as NASA do zillions of computations you would only need to conduct about 20 trades as the bare minimum before you can arrive at any safe conclusions;

II. What was your money management procedure during the testing phase? This is by far the most important point, however, you need to make sure your system is properly working prior to even embarking on this difficult area (hence the reason why it is a CLOSE second to the above point). Be sure you fully understand what I am about to explain (read it several times to absorb it if need be)... If you test a method whereby you rely on a percentage amount of capital on a trade you can be biasing your results!

How?

Let us look at the following comparison sheet where we plot 21 trades with their pip return (we'll assume that each pip = US$1), and compare the returns against using 10 contracts per trade, 10% capital per trade, or 2% risk per trade...

technique you use and what variable you decide to use it on (i.e. who is to say that we not use 20 contracts per trade, or 20% capital, or 5% risk per trade - all of these would inflate the net return figures).

It is best when you trade to stay at a fixed quantity. If you use any results that require a percentage calculation of the equity balance prior to the trade quantity being calculated you will BIAS the last trades more than the trades at the start. Hence, using a fixed quantity throughout the entire sample is one of the true indications of whether your system is profitable or not.

III. What was the drawdown? This is the largest peak to trough distance on your equity curve. In other words, if you were to enter in on the day the equity curve made a peak, how much would you have lost if you bailed out at the lowest point? To test this manually you would obtain an equity curve peak trace how far the equity curve goes down until it moves higher that the peak you started from - the lowest point made between these two points will be your trough figure which you will then subtract from your starting peak figure. The figure with the largest % loss would be your drawdown.

You would then need to look at this drawdown figure and determine whether or not it fits your risk profile. Would you be okay mentally if your account was down the drawdown % figure? If not, then you're going to have to re-create another system. As a rule I don't like systems that generate more than 30% drawdown.

One other statistic that incorporates drawdown that I like to check to determine whether the system is profitable or not is the recovery factor. The recovery factor divides the net profit by the drawdown (without the negative sign). As an example, if the net profit were $5,659 and the drawdown were -$3,542 dividing the net profit by the drawdown would result in a recovery factor of 1.597 (get rid of the minus sign). I generally prefer systems to have this statistic above 3.

So even though we have created our system that fits our personality and risk tolerance level well trades can still fail by not heeding the third and final statement...

3. Don't fall in love with the system

Most traders once they have designed a system cannot believe that their system is making a loss, or worse yet, a loss greater than the system's historical drawdown.

So, to combat this they dig their head in the sand hoping that the problem will go away. Just as trades fall in love with their position, at their own peril, falling in love with their system is also to their detriment.

Treat this as a business with your system as one of your salesmen. If the salesman is costing more than he is bringing in then you need to fire him and find another one.

How do you know if your system is no good?

As a rule I look at the historical drawdown of my system and add 10%. As an example, if my system had historical drawdown of 20% once the system reached 20% x 1.1 = 22% I would stop trading this system and move onto another. And sometimes you can still trade the same system, just with different variables, or a minor tweak.

Be sure that you fully understand the implications presented to you in this article. Trading is a business, therefore conduct it like one, as it is one of the most difficult endeavors you could ever undertake.

The search engines are forever changing the way they rank websites and what is important to achieve a higher ranking. Even with these everchanging factors, there are 8 important points that you must use with your website that are not likely to change any time soon.

1. Domain Name
It is better to register a domain with a keyword in it, unless you are trying to brand yourself (think Coca Cola or Ebay). For instance, if your name is John Smith and you sell golf items you would be better off by registering a name like www.golfproducts.com instead of www.johnsmith.com.

That reflects how little the site designer knew about SEO. Always put a descriptive title on EVERY page of your website. Put something like 'Find golf clubs, golf clothes and the latest pro golf tips', instead of 'John's golf shop'.

It is still advisable to include a meta tag keywords and meta tag description in your code. A lot of times the search engines will pull your description tag to show in your websites search result. Do not, I repeat do not list 100 or more keywords in the keyword tag. This technique used to work years ago, but the search engines recognize this technique and will consider it spam.

Place no more than 10 keywords in the meta keywords tag.

4. Link Strategies
Another important tip is to include keywords when linking to other websites or pages within your own site. For example it is better to have a sentence like this 'Find out the latest professional golf tips.' then to say 'click here for the latest professional golf tips.' This also applies to any outbound links to other related websites. Include keywords on the part you want the visitors to click on.

Same goes for incoming links to your site. If someone wants to link to your site give them the code to paste in their website instead of leaving them to do it on their own. Have something like 'Check out John's Golf shop for the best golf clubs, golf info and golf tips." This is much better than 'Click here for John's Golf Shop'. Search engines also like longer more descriptive links than just one or two words.

5. Relevant Content
Make sure that you provide only relevant information to what your actually offering or selling. If you have

a bunch of unrelated info on a wide range of topics than the search engines will have a harder time pinpointing exactly what it is your site is about. So if your selling golf stuff stick to golf content, don't throw in articles or links about scuba diving.

6. PageRank
This is still a relatively new term and applies to an algorithm that google's search engine uses. Other search engines use similar strategies to google's PageRank also.

Basically PageRank is used to define how popular your website is. The more relevant inbound links you have coming into your website the higher your PageRank will be. Google also has a toolbar that you can download for free that will show you a site's PageRank. The best way to go about getting inbound links is to find related websites with a PageRank of 5 or higher. Then asking them to include a link to your site (giving them the proper code to paste in).

Another way you can receive a higher PageRank is to have a ton of content on many different pages and then linking all the pages together in a way that will raise your PageRank. With that said this type of strategy will not boost your PageRank tremendously, so if your site doesn't contain thousands of pages don't stress over it. It is important though to link strategically with keywords between the pages of your site.

I am terrified of heights. The thought of skydiving, for example makes my stomach do somersaults. I am also very nervous about closed spaces, claustrophobia. People and what they are afraid of is a fascinating subject. Fear itself is a funny thing. For example, in a survey respondents indicated that even more than death, they were afraid of public speaking!

Fear is what hold most of us back when it comes to developing our public speaking skills.

Why is public speaking so scary? Will you die? I didn't ask if you would FEEL like dying! Obviously there is a fear of failure, but even stronger than failure, I think it is the fear of the UNKNOWN

The first step you can take to deal the fear of public speaking is to eliminate as much of the unknown as you can.

Here is a good way to approach the unknown. Ask questions:

WHO?

Who will you speak to? What are the audience demographics? What is the average age? Get the answer to all of the WHO questions you can. When will you speak? How much time do you have to prepare? What time will you present? What time you present can be extremely important.

Why may be the most important question. If you know why then you know what. Why were you invited to present? Did your prospect ask you to present your product? Did your boss ask you to present a solution to a problem? Why are you there? What is your agenda? What is their agenda?

Fear of the unknown is natural. Eliminate as much of the unknown as you possibly can and you will eliminate many of the reasons for public speaking nervousness.

Valentine's Day...the day of love right? Many years ago, 22 to be exact, I was a senior in high school. Just prior to Valentine's Day our student council representative got on the intercom during morning announcements and told us about an upcoming fundraiser. Student council was going to sell carnations for an entire week.

It was further explained that there would be three colors available: red, pink, and white. Red was to signify love, pink said, "I really like you" and white was for friendship. The carnations could be ordered ahead of time but wouldn't be delivered until Valentine's Day during homeroom.

The whole school buzzed with excitement over the prospect of it.

Everyone discussed it but the girls couldn't contain themselves as they wondered which lucky girl would get the most red ones. Little snippets of conversations could be heard floating through the hallways:

"Do you think he will send her a pink one or a red one?"

"I wonder who will get the most?"

The conversations continued in this manner until the first day of sales. On that particular day a certain group of girls started gossiping and acting cruel. I am sure you might be able to imagine the kind of girls I am talking about as they can be found in every high school across America.

They view themselves as pretty, perfect and popular but in truth are very shallow and unhappy individuals. I had a feeling you would know what I meant! Anyway, these girls aimed their barbs towards another girl in our class. This girl was neither homely, nor attractive but she had such non-distinctive looks that she kind of just blended into her surroundings. In fact when I really think about it, nothing about her looks nor the way she acted warranted much attention. She was quiet and to my knowledge never said anything unkind about anyone. I knew she was a good student because I sat close enough to her in a few of my classes to notice that her papers were always branded with A's when they were handed back to her.

In voices just loud enough to be heard, they mentioned this girl by name and joked that they knew for sure she wouldn't get a single flower. The girl just lowered her head and pretended not to hear but I knew she did. It broke my heart to witness their gross display of humor as they mocked her over and over that day and in fact, for the rest of the week. I toyed with the idea of sending the girl a white carnation but I must admit that I wasn't brave enough. I knew what they were doing was wrong but I didn't know what to do, so like everyone else, I did nothing.

The big day finally arrived and I was excited as everyone else but a little nervous too. What if I didn't have a single carnation delivered to me during homeroom. I knew if that happened, I would die of embarrassment!

I had ordered a white carnation for each of my friends and I was secretly hoping that they at least did the same for me. Of course there was a certain boy I was hoping to get one from too!

That day we were told that the fundraiser was a huge success and that homeroom would need to be extended so all of the flowers could be delivered. Each member of the student council was armed with carnations and they roamed from room to room delivering the blooms.

I chatted with my friend for what seemed like an eternity before our door was opened for the first time. We held a collective breath and exhaled in unison as only one flower was delivered, a white one for my homeroom teacher! The student council members continued to come in and out of our room.

Our first big flower delivery was 4 carnations for a boy sitting to my right. I couldn't believe a boy was the first one in the room to get red! The carnations continued to trickle in.

After receiving 3 white carnations and realizing I wouldn't have to die from embarrassment of not getting any, my attention was drawn to the girl next to me. You know the one I mean, the smart one that the other girls had harassed all week. She sat perfectly still with her hands folded in front of her on her desk. I wondered if I should lean over and give her one of my flowers but I didn't want to embarrass her.

It was during these musings when I saw three red carnations being placed on her desk. She looked up and smiled but just continued to sit there; she didn't even reach out and touch them! I wasn't the only one that had noticed either; people were starting to whisper and point in her direction.

I could tell the other girls were a bit jealous because not a single girl in the class had received more than one red carnation at this point. Then things really started to get wild. Each time a student council member came in, at least one of the carnations in their stack was for her and they were all red!

At this point as best as I could tell, she had 7 red carnations stacked neatly on her desk. The class started getting a little rowdy and each time a red carnation was placed on her desk, we all cheered. OK, the boys cheered, the girls mostly just glared.

I knew I was witnessing something great and I tried to seek out the "gossip girls" just to see their reactions to this unexpected twist of events. There were three of them in our class and two of them had a few pink and white carnations on their desk and the third had a handful of white ones. I was thrilled by what was happening but I had to also wonder who had sent her all of the carnations....did she have a secret admirer?

My thoughts were interrupted by the crackle of the intercom and the voice of our principal wishing us a Happy Valentine's Day. He went on to explain that all of the carnations had been distributed and then in his long-winded manner, thanked the Student Council for a job well done.

I heard a commotion behind me as one of the "gossip girls" got up out of her chair and ran out of the room. I heard later that one of the boys teased her about not getting any red carnations which made her start to cry. I didn't even feel bad for her as my attention was focused on the pile of red carnations sitting on the desk next to me. What I noticed next was the smile on the girl's face. It truly was a great day!

I don't know for sure but I heard she was given 24 red carnations that day. We don't know who gave them to her but I am glad someone did. I will never forget her nor will I forget that day. Oh, I did fairly well too. I received a handful of white carnations and I got a special pink one. Yes, it was from a guy, not the guy I was secretly hoping to get one from but from a great friend of mine that was hoping to make my day special. And you know what? It was special!

Demon-strate that you are a go-getter by picking up the telephone and making that all important connection. First, confirm that your r�½sum�½ has been received. Then politely inquire about the position and the next steps in the process. Ask when it would be appropriate to check back with them. Treat whomever you speak with on the telephone with respect-you could be talking with the decision-maker.

7. Be prepared to sell yourself over the telephone. Most companies pre-screen applicants by telephone. Don't make the mistake of thinking this isn't a real interview. You need to shine here or you won't make it to the next level. Be prepared. Smile when you answer the telephone. It's show time!

With the holiday travel season around the corner, I am reminded of highways and airports will filled with families trying to get to visit relatives, and business travelers trying to get home. During this time, you may experience chaos and delay, so I am sharing with you what I learned the last time I encountered chaos and delay during the power blackout in August of 2003 I am convinced that the lessons learned can be applied to all travelers.

I arrived at LaGuardia airport at 4:30 p.m. - relieved that I had beaten the worst of the traffic with over two hours before my scheduled flight departure to grab something to eat and make a few phone calls. After too many days on the road, thoughts about how nice it would be to see my husband and sleep in my own bed were beginning to dance in my head.

I walked up to the kiosk to get my boarding pass. I punched the screen - no response. I looked around and realized no one was moving. The gentleman beside me responded to my quizzical look: "The power's out."

Twenty-seven hours later I fell into the last seat on the last flight that day to the Raleigh-Durham airport (I did get a business class seat!). Like all experiences, there are lessons to be learned:

1. Carry a paper printout of your travel reservations. Because the computer systems were down, the airlines had no way of substantiating that you even had a reservation unless you had some kind of paper documentation with a reservation number on it. Even though I was automatically booked on a later flight (don't ask me how!), I had to show the printout to get my boarding pass. I save all my travel documents in my "calendar entry" file of my Paper Tiger filing system - that way it is easy to grab itineraries and related documents as I head out the door.

2. Travel with cash. Since cash machines and credit cards require electricity, your ability to buy food was directly related to the amount of cash you had available.

3. Keep your cellphone charged and a calling card handy. Although cellular service at best was sketchy, without a battery you had no chance at all. Payphones worked intermittently, but many people were scrambling to borrow change to pay for the calls when they had the chance.

4. Carry a flashlight. I didn't need it this time...

5. Pack some protein. The day before I was in a nutrition store. Protein bars were on sale. I bought a whole box - something I had never done before. I enjoyed passing them out even more than I enjoyed eating them.

6. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Keep in mind that temperatures vary widely - the airport was incredibly hot, but the airplane felt like a meat locker. My feet ached just watching women in 3" high heels with pointed toes struggling up staircases and stalled escalators with heavy bags.

7. Carry wet wipes. Running water requires electricity. Need I say more?

8. Keep physically fit. I said a big "Thank You!" to my fitness trainer every time I climbed the 2-story long escalator carrying all my luggage. (The first floor was relatively cool, but information about flights was only available on the top floor.) Passengers with checked luggage had to tote their own bags since luggage belts were not functioning.

9. Take an extra battery for your laptop. In spite of the chaos, I managed to get some real work done.

10. Carry a good book. Fortunately, the bookstore owner was a true entrepreneur and sold books the old fashioned-way -- without a cash register. (I decided to lighten my luggage and gave her the copies of my books I was carrying with me for samples!)

11. Because I employ the Taming the Paper Tiger system in my office, I was able to rest assured that my staff was able to function in my absence, able to find files and documents and information needed to change my schedule, handle my responsibilities and manage without me. Remember, I had very limited phone service so I really could not communicate with them, so being organized and having a well-trained staff allowed me to feel confident that they could handle the business in my absence.

12. Be gracious. As my grandmother used to say, you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. Getting upset didn't solve any problems, and it always created one more.

13. Whenever you think you've got problems, just look around. Other travelers were sick, elderly, physically or mentally handicapped, or traveling with children - one with a premature infant. I had much for which to be thankful!

Once you enter the floppy disk, and hit ok, you will be presented with a box with three inputs. The first is the new password, the second is the password confirmation, and the third is the password hint.

In summary, creating a reset password disk, will save you lots of trouble, time, and loss of data. It is simple, and you can use this method on any Windows Xp computer, whether home, or Pro. edition. Don't delay it, create your disk once you are done reading this article.

Are you tired of being self-conscious about your hands and nails? I know exactly what you're going through because I've been there. Did you notice I said, "I've been there".

That's right, I have finally quit biting my nails. I never thought it was possible, but after years of trying to figure it out, I did it.

As I mentioned, it took me years to "nail" down how to quit this habit. I had several failed attempts, too many to count. I found myself always hiding my nails and truly embarrassed about them. I was even envious of people with nice nails because I was so uncomfortable with my own.

Being uncomfortable about my nails forced me to really think about the problem. I tried all the cover-ups and distractions such as bad tasting nail crme and chewing gum. However, nothing seemed to work on a permanent basis. I would kick the habit for a couple weeks to a month, but I would relapse and be back to square one in no time.

In order to stop this habit on a permanent basis, you have to get to the root of the problem. All the cover-ups and distractions help alleviate the desire to bite and make quitting the habit somewhat easier, but they are not a permanent solution. For a permanent solution, you must ask yourself the following question:

In what situations do I sub-consciously start to bite my nails?

All you nail-biters out there know what I mean! You bring your fingers to your mouth without even thinking about it. For me, as it is for most people, it was stress situations causing me to do this. I was also guilty when I was thinking, panicked, nervous and worried. As you can tell, this covers a lot of situations and feelings, so I was biting my nails a lot.

Even with all these feelings causing me to bite my nails, I have quit this habit. I did it by being conscious of these causes and therefore my emotions. In other words, when I was getting nervous, or panicked, I would be mindful of the situation and somewhat control my emotions. I would realize that I was in this emotional state. With the thought in the back of my mind not to bite my nails, I wouldn't do it. This is the key to quitting this habit. This is the only permanent solution. Try this and you will be pleasantly surprised with the results. A spin-off of this method is being generally more relaxed and in control. I found myself being able to handle pressure situations better because I was more in control, not only of my nail biting, but of my entire emotional state.

If you would like to know when your site was last indexed by Google, you can find out easily by using the Google cache command. By typing "cache:www.logcabinrustics.com" into the Google search engine, I learned that my site was last indexed yesterday. The Google cache also displays the web page at the time of indexing, so you can see the latest version of your page that was indexed by Google.

As some webmasters have learned, the Google cache feature can be particularly handy when a valuable website and its backup have been lost due to computer failures. It may be time-consuming, especially if you have hundreds of pages, but you can actually retrieve the "lost" pages from your site in the form that Google last indexed them. If this doesn't work, you might also try the Wayback Machine at archive.org.

Forensic experts have also used the Google cache feature to their advantage-to retrieve incriminating evidence from the web. This should be an important reminder to all webmasters not to publish sensitive material online. A later decision not to publish some tantalizing tidbit, and the frantic page-pulling that ensues, may not be enough to erase those ill-said words from the Net.

Webmasters are supposed to be able to block Google from caching their site by using the "no cache" tag. However, many don't even try this for fear of losing favor in the company's powerful search rankings. Although Google says the "no cache" tags don't affect web rankings, some webmasters aren't so sure.

Other helpful search engine operators of particular value to webmasters include:

LINK: The LINK operator, when used in conjunction with your domain name, is supposed to tell you how many links are pointing to your site. The syntax for this command is "link:http://www.thevegetarianexpress.com/. By way of caution, this only shows how many links indexed by Google that are linking to you. A more inclusive option is found

This is a particularly helpful option if you are looking for a specific phrase on one site.

Variations of the above themes include the ALLINURL and ALLINTITLE search operators. These are particularly useful when you are looking for a string of keywords in either a title or site. For example, if you start a query with allinurl:, Google will restrict the results to those with all of the query words in the url. For instance, [allinurl:logcabinrustics.com bunk beds] will return only documents that have both "bunk" and "beds" in the url.

If you start an advertising campaign you can set up a seperate landing page for each of your campaign. You can assume that people coming to that page are coming from that particular ad campaign.

Spelt phishing, but pronounced as above, this despicable act is an effort to batter your bankroll or commandeer your cash.

To put it simply, you can get emails from account administrators, which strongly urge you to update details attached to that account. The issue, though, is the pretence of such mail.

You may not even have such an account as referenced.

It doesn't come from the account provider.

It can use false S.S.L. references, to present an illusion of trust and security.

It can prompt for immediate action on your part, alleging false log-in's by persons unknown, and from countries unknown. If action is not taken, they can impress on you, that the account will be suspended or closed. Indeed, anything likely to work can be fabricated, to get you to the webpage suggested in the link or hyperlink. Note the word "suggested". Likenesses to company logos are used to re-enforce "credibility".

In fact, these phishing attempts actually look pretty good or realistic. So much so that any qualms of guilt or stupidity, experienced by a "conned party" are groundless.

Experience, specific education or forewarning, is all that prevents this type of charade from widening its base of "victims".

The goal is to get you to type in your details, complete with credit card number and the rest can be guessed.

Some damage is also absorbed by the organisation or company being misrepresented and they can do little about it but warn their customers what to watch out for, and issue security instructions. Indeed, it is from accounts at reputable companies that most passing trade learn the correct or most secure procedures. It is therefore important to read any material that they offer.

Generally though, reputable companies with a mind to preserve their integrity will tell you to log-in at their main page and proceed from there. Not through a link specific to your account!

Hyperlinks can mask the true domain that you'll be brought to, with the text linked to www.anydomaindotcom (example, only), a replica or fake page. Only going to secure pages where one believes that "https" will do it, will always help but wholly unreliable. The "s" is an indication of a secure page, but are you at the right domain?

Place your mouse over the link and the domain attached to such a link, should show itself. Viewing the source code is another way but some knowledge of it is necessary.

Another ploy, sometimes deliberate and sometimes "convenient", is inserting a reference to the "legitimate company" anywhere after the domain name. Ex. https://www.anydomaindotcom/ebay/aagle/. Unwary victims may overlook the fact that "ebay" is not the domain, but see it anyway as a directory or file name. Anyone, anywhere can have a file or directory named like that of a company.

To make matters somewhat worse from an "easy to identify" viewpoint, the source code of the link can be represented as an I.P. address rather than its named counterpart. There are some tools that you can use at http://centralops.net/co/ which you can use to type in the I.P. address and cross reference it with the official account domain presented in the e-mail, or web page for that matter. Opening a second window for investigative purposes and re-sizing both to be side by side can be revealing, and comparisons be made between the alleged source and that of the source code.

www.ebay.com can be put in one window and www.suspiciouslyspurious.com can be put in the other. NOTE; you should be checking domains and ignoring everything that comes after the forward slash at the end of the domain. A similar test can be done for email viruses, where suspicious email addresses can be searched for some degree of authenticity.

If you are phished, try to learn as much as possible about it as phishing attempts and email viruses have some aspects in common. Incorrect spelling is one of them. You must understand that the authors can be from anywhere and not necessarily have degrees in English.

Legitimate companies can also be from anywhere, with different primary languages, but do perfect their spellings and general grammar.

Attention to upper and lower case can be another giveaway. This is especially true where particular portions of the text are the design of the author, and not just copied and pasted. Typically, these portions are customised to be customer specific in a general sense, and fonts may even be different or out of place. Such "special" additions are to strengthen the sense of urgency and call to action.

Kill The Messenger (Service). Dare To Be Different.

You are familiar with the software applications that you run on your computer, but you may not be familiar with the dozens of programs running in the background on your computer. These programs, called "services" handle tasks like event logging, spooling files to the printer, and networking. One of these services, the Messenger Service, can be reconnoitered by spammers.

The original purpose of the Messenger Service was to allow system administrators to send a message to some or all of the users on a network.

The message appears in a popup window to alert the users. Messenger Service is not instant-messaging. It does not allow the users to respond.

All Windows versions install Messenger Service and turn it on by default. A program freely available from the Internet allows spammers to control the Messenger Service on hundreds of thousands of computers on the Web. Users receive popup spam windows that are not generated by the website they are visiting.

If your computer is on a network behind a firewall, or you have a firewall application installed on your computer, it can be configured to block access to the Messenger Service. Most firewalls are configured by default to block access to the Messenger Service. If not, configure your firewall to block port 135, the port used by Messenger Service.

Microsoft, in their ignorance of computer security, likes to leave "back doors" to your computer open. But they finally wised up and Windows XP Service Pack 2 turns off the Messenger Service. If you are running Windows XP, your best bet would be to install Service Pack 2 to turn off the Messenger Service and close several other security holes.

If you are running Windows 2000, you can turn off the Messenger Service manually. Select "Run..." in the Start menu and in the "Open:" text box type services.msc, then click on the "OK" button. In the "Services" window that appears, right-click on "Messenger". In the "Properties" dialog box that appears, click on the "Stop" button and then in the "Startup Type" drop-down list select "Disabled". Then click on the "OK" button.

If you are running Windows NT, select "Services" in the "Adminstrative Tools" utility. Then disable the Messenger Service as described above. If you are running Windows 95/98/Me, you can't disable Messenger Service, you need to remove it. Use the "Add/Remove Programs" utility in Control Panel to view the details of "System Tools". Uncheck the box next to "WinPopUp".

Now, with the Messenger Service on your computer disabled or removed, spammers will have to go back to annoying you the old fashion way - with spam email.

The chest area is one of the easist muscle groups for beginning bodybuilders to strengthen and develop. It consists of a large muscle (pectoralis major) to either side of the breastbone and a smaller muscle (pectoralis minor) underneath. The pecs are relatively easy to develop in the early stages simply because they can be trained intensively although care needs to be taken to work them from different angles to ensure full development.

For beginners, three safe but effective exercises are recommended:

1. Incline dumbbell press - 3 sets of 10-15 reps. When you feel comfortable with the mechanics involved in this exercise you can move on to using a barbell instead, remembering to maintain proper form.

2. Incline dumbbell flyes - 3 sets of 10-15 reps. Done properly, this exercise is good for inner and outer pecs.

3. Push-ups - 3 sets of 10-15 reps. Keep your body straight from head to knees and lower your body until your arms form right angles. Done properly, the old fashioned push-up still offers benefits to the chest muscles.

As with all exercises you need to take care in scheduling specific body parts. To begin with you should incorporate your chest exercises into a program similar to the one suggested below:

Day 1: Biceps, Back, Abs

Day 2: Hamstrings, Shoulders, Abs

Day 3: Quads, Forearms, Calves

Day 4: Triceps, Chest, Abs

For the first couple of weeks complete one set but then add one set each week to a maximum of three.

Par's always good, but you feel you deserve better.

Whether or not you're an avid golfer you can relate to this story. We've all had times in our lives when we're trying so hard and executing very well, yet things are not going our way. Just hang in there. Soon, things will seem to magically go your way. You'll hit the "Zone" of life. You'll achieve more in just a few months than many achieve in a lifetime. The time will come very soon when your tee shots will have an extra 20 yards on them and straight. Your approach shots will consistently be pin-high, even in gusty wind. And, the hole seems to vacuum your ball on any putt hit even remotely close. It's coming baby! You're gonna fly like a birdie.

What lumens do you need? (Lumens is the brightness of the projector)
What resolution do you need? (Resolution is the number of pixels at which the display device does not have to expand or compress the input signal)

I was privileged to travel to Sydney recently with my family to be help celebrate my father being made a Member of the Order of Australia.

He was awarded an AM for his service to medicine, especially developing innovative courses in general practice and medicine.

As District Medical Officer in the highlands of Papua New Guinea he discovered the disease pigbel. Known as 'Belly on Fire' and associated with sporadic pigfeasting, it killed thousands, especially children. It is now controlled by vaccination.

He was the foundation Chair of Community Medicine at the University of Adelaide, a post he held for nearly 20 years.

In Adelaide he pioneered teaching health centres at St Agnes, Ingle Farm and The Parks and developed additional general practice teaching units at Highbury and Modbury Hospitals.

Always a lateral thinker, he came up with a 'Recipe for Living'.

Virtually every business you contact has this question in their mind. To truly maximize your revenues you need give people a reason to buy from you versus a competitor. Here are a few strategies that will help you differentiate yourself from your competition.

First, it's important to understand that people make their buying decision on two levels - logical and emotional. The logical aspect revolves around the product or service and includes such things as product specifications, warranty, price, colour, size, ease of use, etc. Anything directly associated with the product is a logical need. The second buying motivator and, perhaps the most powerful, is the emotional aspect of the sale. These criteria are the less tangible needs and include feelings of success, relief, pride, joy, fear and concern. For example, a person buying a pair of jeans will have specific logical needs such as waist size, inseam length, colour and style. But, ultimately, the emotional aspect of how they fit and look will influence that person's buying decision.

To uncover your customers emotional buying requirement learn to ask, "What are you looking for in a...?" followed by "Why is that important to you?" The first question helps you learn the logical need while the second question will help the customer express the emotional reasons behind their purchase. In the hundreds of sales training workshops I've conducted, I've learned that

most salespeople and business owners have a tendency to leap into a product demonstration before they have learned what is important to the customer. Invest the time accurately and thoroughly learning your customer's need and wants. This will help you to begin differentiating yourself from your competitor.

The next step is to give a presentation that focuses on the customer's needs. Rather than discuss everything about your product or service, focus first on what the customer identified as being important. This demonstrates that you listened to what they said and will help you separate yourself more effectively.

When presenting your product or service ensure you discuss the benefits as well as the features. The feature is "what it is" and the benefit is "what it means to the customer." A great way to phrase this is to say, "Our equipment extracts 97% of the water from your carpet (feature) which means your carpets will be dry to the touch within three or four hours (benefit)." This addresses the customer's emotional buying needs which means there is a greater likelihood they will buy from your versus a competitor.

People also make buying decisions based on their overall experience in your store or place of business. Here are just three influencing factors:

1. Ease of business. Are you easy to do business with or do I, as a customer, have to jump through hoops to return something? Are you well staffed or do you reduce your costs by scheduling a skeleton staff at any given time?

2. Staff accessibility and attitude. Is your team friendly and well trained in customer services procedures? Do they exhibit the mentality that the customer is important and comes first or do they spend their time gossiping and gabbing? Do they eagerly approach the customer or do they wait for customers to come up to them first. I recently bought an aquarium and although the staff was knowledgeable they made me feel like I was intruding on their time.

3. Product selection and availability. Do you have a good supply chain management or order fulfillment process in place. Prior to buying my aquarium I placed my order at one store and at the time of writing this article almost six weeks later I still haven't been advised that my tank has arrived. And this was a stock order!

Lastly, equip your team with the tools they need to properly do their job. Take advantage of the product training most manufacturers provide, invest in the on-going development of your people, and help them succeed. I've worked with companies who invest a great deal in their employees and others who spend a bare minimum. The difference in their overall results is always significant.

Today's business environment is more challenging and competitive than ever before which means you need to give people a clear reason to do business with you rather than someone else.

Do you ever feel that when you are doing direct sales you find yourself not getting respect from the local businesses? They are busy and you are an interruption of course, yet at the same time, it does slow you down. Smart direct sales marketers carry clipboards into offices to sell and take orders. Clipboards come in many colors and styles; plastic, aluminum, clear, etc. These clipboards should have your company logo on the bottom. They should also have calculators on the clip. The logo should be made of vinyl lettering in your company colors. They should be durable or high tech plastic clipboard which can be dropped from six feet without breaking. They should also have a company pen attached which contrasts such as a yellow pen with blue ink or red ink inside. The sign-up sheets for orders or receipts should be on top and attached to the clipboard.

The format on the sign-up sheet can be created in Microsoft Word. This way reproduction ready artwork is only a move of the mouse and a click on the printer icon away. Use bright colors which stand out for order sheets perhaps even; Astro-Bright Solar yellow. You should have matching uniforms, flyers and business cards to the logo or sign-up sheet.

The sign up sheets should be printed in black ink because blue ink turns into green under most printing processes. Order receipts should use blue ink. The sign-up forms should be printed on both sides so you can compare the morning with the afternoon hours for volume and money. These forms should be in card stock since it will make them more durable and won't crumple or rip if they get wet even though you are writing on both sides. If an salesperson pushes too hard on the pen they will not go through. This saves money. It costs ten cents for one side and fourteen cents for both sides. This saves two-thirds on the printing costs. Perfect efficiency. It also is environmentally good, saving trees. Yeah! Also, it gives you a pretty good indication of how many units are sold during the day, how much money you have made if you were doing only cash sales.

This decreases also the possibility of employee pilferage from the sales team and helps you determine how much money you've made. If you are in a business which receives tips; this, of course, is the best way to judge how good of a job you are doing and how happy your customers are. Twenty percent in tips is a good number.

The order or sign up form should be left blank at the top two inches. That way the clip doesn't cover up the name or logo of your business. Many times the customer will watch you write down the information they give you. This is another reason we use blue or red ink only. Both are very contracting on yellow. Red is more commanding and factual while blue is pleasant and caring. Both work fine for our model. When a customer is watching you write information down, many times they will watch you check boxes. They will probably want to watch you check all the boxes. This also gives you the opportunity to upsell. It works 70% of the time and it's easy. Anyone can do it.

Every crew should be trained to do this. As the people watch you check boxes, they will also want you to check the "paid" box. This is great. Get your money in advance. It saves time running back in after you're completed with a service or deliver the products sold. Another way to get paid up front is to leave money on the clipboard. If there is a lot of money on the clipboard, one's, five's ten's, they won't have to ask you if you have change. They can see you do. Many customers carry large bills, fifty's, hundred's. There will be no doubt that you have something worthy you are selling and you are able to make change.

If you have lots of money on the clipboard you must have a great product or service; thus building consumer confidence. You must be a successful business person and everybody loves a winner. It also build's your confidence as a sales person and it must be a good deal, everyone else seems to be doing it, therefore you must be reputable because people trust you with their money.

Sometimes a secretary will be very busy on the phone, can't talk and makes a half acknowledgment of your presence. By holding up the board, she will know exactly why you are there; something important has now arrived. As soon as she hangs up the phone, she will be on the P.A. announcing "Anyone who wants a ..come to the front desk." By creating a sense of urgency, being in uniform similar to UPS or Federal Express and having an electronic device (the calculator or the credit card machine) along with money demands recognition.

Peace can mean quiet, tranquility, serenity, peace of mind, mental calmness, friendliness, no wars, civil disorders or strife. Sometimes a word makes sense and other times there is no reference for it.

From my own experience I had no reference for the word &happy'. Logically I knew what it was supposed to mean, however I couldn't relate to it. On the other hand I knew and experienced what &contentment' and &joy' was, but with &happy' - sadly I had no reference point.

The word &happy' had to be demonstrated to me in order for it to have any meaning. &Happy' was demonstrated to me by a male facilitator on a course I was on a couple of years ago. He started an impromptu, very silly dance which had me laughing for a long time afterwards. The memory of it still gets me smiling and gives me a &happy' feeling which I fully experience throughout my body.

With that in mind whenever I step into peace I totally experience it through every cell in my body. How do I know that is what I'm experiencing? I feel it and link the word peace to that feeling.

Before trying the exercise, I'd like you to ask yourself a few questions:

*Does the word &peace' mean anything to you? If so, what does it mean?

*As you ask yourself this question, do you notice any sensations or feelings in parts of your body? Do you have a sense of colours, sounds, visual images, tastes or even smells? These are links to the word &peace'. If the links are subtle you can increase them, if they are too full on you can decrease them.

*If the word &peace' doesn't mean anything, link to a word that you can relate to that means much the same. For example, it would be a word that describes how you'd be feeling if you were gently floating through the air with no concerns or fears, and you were safe and comfortable, and experiencing a deep sense of quiet.

Before starting the exercise, practise with a few words such as peace, serenity, calm, friendliness, accepting etc. Also choose a time where the distractions will be minimal to nil for you to practise. The more you do the exercise the better you'll become at accessing this state wherever you are regardless of what is happening around you.

Exercise:

*Sit quietly - breathing comfortably and deeply - settled and safe in the space you find yourself, and give yourself permission to be fully present, now, here, just you and the sound of your inward and outward breath - closing your eyes gradually and continuing to breathe in gentle rhythm.

*Fully experience stillness, there is you and only you.

*Imagine yourself now in the centre of your universe, fully supported, floating within this centre. As you do this imagine what it would feel like if you were sitting or laying on a light, feathery cloud.

*Breathe in this experience and allow the sensation to expand through every cell within your body.

*Allow all attachments to the physical world fall away dissolve, melt down for now, as you continue discovering your source, the very heart of you - attachments like tentacles falling away now as you let go of any fear.

*Suspended within your universe - move your awareness around you - there are many wonderful things life has to offer - this is the place where you can see, feel, hear and know that without prejudice.

*Locating your heart and the warm light that shines from it, notice how it radiates out from you in all directions, reaching and permeating through all time and beyond.

*Breathe in deeply knowing this light, radiates from your being.

*Notice a jelly like substance that protects you from being impacted from the thoughts of others, words that potentially could hurt begin to bounce and fall away because you're now becoming thick skinned - only universal and unconditional love reaches you here.

*You can access and experience this place of inner peace anytime you want to, simply practise quietening your mind, breathing gently and allow the sensation what you know peace to be, to expand within you.

If you have never had sex in a Cessna or other small aircraft then you probably might wish to read this article. It is fun, exhilarating and can get a little tricky if you do not do it correctly. Yes, in fact there is a right way and a wrong way to have sex in a Cessna. The reason I chose Cessna for this article is not because it is the only aircraft I have done it in; but because it is the most popular light aircraft. If you are two guys reading this article, I do not have any pointers for you, as I am into only the heterosexual endeavors in that regard.

First you will need to find a practice area in your region and you will of course as the saying goes be at least a mile up; for proper mile-club initiation. Also make sure on the sectional chart that there are no nearby VORs or common flight paths. One of you will need to be glancing out the windscreen from time to time to look for traffic. Remember something the size of a bug coming at you at 300 knots; closing speed, will get pretty big pretty fast and they might not see you.

Once you are in position, not sexual position; first we need to get the aircraft trimmed up in stable flight. If you are in an aircraft with auto-pilot and not very bumpy air you will enjoy the experience much more. If you have 3-axis autopilot sex in a Cessna can me a lot of fun and you will most likely wish to do it often. If you have only a 2-axis auto pilot there will be times when you will want to adjust the controls from time to time. It is okay if you are a little nervous the first time, this is a good thing and keeps you on your toes. This promotes safety and of course added excitement for the sexual encounter.

Once you have the aircraft in level flight and trimmed up and/or auto pilot set. Slide the seat all the way back and lock it into position. Next remove your pants, both of you. Take them all the way off; do not, I repeat do not put them only down to your ankles. If you get into turbulence you will need to be able to put your feet back on the rudder pedals and if they are bound up with your pants around your ankles this will cause a problem. Trust me on this point please; yes it was exciting, but I will never do it that way again. Think about this a second.

I was reading an article about the Apprentice and some of the rules that Donald Trump and his apprentice assistants had come up with about business. While reading a lot of them I saw a huge relation to how these same rules also apply to dating as crazy as it might sound.

Donald Trump is a famous Billionaire who has endured ups and downs for a number of decades. It appears a large portion of his wealth has been made in Real Estate. Recently he has had a popular reality series NBC has been showing known as the Apprentice. The Reality Show isn't all frivolous as a lot of the other reality shows around. At the center of every episode are real gems on how to climb a corporate ladder, how to lead, how to stand out from the crowd and even how to fail and avoid getting the boot.

The Apprentice centers on a competition for a job working for the Billionaire Donald Trump. Every episode features some sort of business task or some sort of competition. At the end of each episode some of the competitors are fired which means they leave the show and miss out on the opportunity to work for My Trump. This takes place in the Boardroom where members are encouraged to evaluate their teammates performance, abilities, work ethics. The guy who makes the biggest errors tends to be the one "fired". Beyond winning the competition, each individual team member must act in a manner that earns him or her respect as a project manager or team member.

Some of the gems of the show for thought.

1. Think Like A Winner

Donald Trump's most profound comment (and first commandment) is, "Winning is everything." He explained that while there is no better feeling... the ability to think like a winner is the key to being one. Those who take their eyes off the prize wind up hearing two little words: you're fired.

This relates to dating as somebody who feels confident can be confident. A person who feels he has already won a battle has a huge edge over somebody who feels he has a lot of obstacles to overcome. A person who feels he is a winner is a winner as your beliefs are what shape you. The person you wish to win over will be heavily more attracted to somebody who believes in themselves than somebody who doesn't.

2. Polish Your Interview Skills

The importance of exceptional interview skills became crucial as the field narrowed to the final four contestants in episode 14. Kelly, Jennifer M, Kevin and Stacy underwent a grueling series of job interviews with four of the top business leaders in the world. The two candidates left standing after this process - Kelly and Jennifer M - demonstrated superior ability to think on their feet. Some of the spontaneous answers lobbed by Kevin and Sandy, made viewers cringe. It quickly became clear who had the &right stuff' to survive the hot seat.

This second rule can be applied to having good communication skills. Somebody who can think of their feet and express their thoughts easily can communicate their feelings much more easily. Somebody who is also good at interviews will know what to say that can open somebody up to a whole new level. They will allow a great sense of rapport to be built quickly and be very deep.

3. Lead Strong or Play Along

Getting their team of &alphas' to follow without question was a challenge for each project manager. Some ruled with an iron fist, others used manipulation and guilt. Some didn't handle it at all. In episode 11, Wes took the lead in a task to create an ad campaign for Levi's Jeans. Maria, one of his teammates, thought she had this task together and angrily told Wes to back off, while she seized control. Maria was so busy throwing her weight around, she missed the primary focus of jeans advertising... the &butt shots'. This single oversight cost the team dearly. Later, in The Boardroom, Wes was fired for failing to control Maria,,, and she was fired for posing as a know-it-all. Two for the price of one turned out to be all in a day's work for Mr. Donald Trump.

On this and dating. One of the things we teach our students in workshops is to lead and never hesitate. When a student sees strong indications of interest it is his responsibility to act on them and follow up. If a student fails to lead than the interest level will soon drop to a very low level quickly. Learning to Play along can also be taken as a way to see the signals and be aware of them. When somebody is showing interest it's best to play along and let them be interested than giving them something else.

4. Step Up; Take Responsibility

Finger-pointing was rampant among teams on the Apprentice. If you were really slick about it, laying blame off on one of your teammates could help you survive another day. If you weren't... oh well.

This is a common thing I see with some students when I hear about what they have done before working with Fidentia in a workshop. They fail to take responsibility for their own actions. This is done in so many ways its crazy. First if they have a bad date they blame the date a lot, where they went, what they did, others around -yet they never look at themselves and wonder if they could have done anything different to improve the situation. The only way to learn from mistakes is to first realize you made a mistake in the first place.

Another example is guys who use different systems for dating. There are many programs out there. I can make ALL of them work. When a student can not make something work. They tend to first want to blame the system instead of themselves. So they are on a constant search of dating systems never realizing that each system has had some students have success. They can not learn if they do not take responsibility for their own actions.

5. Resist the Impulse to Be Impulsive

The game provides that the winning project manager receive an exemption from firing should his or her team lose the following week - an Apprentice "Get Out of Jail Free" card.

Bradford won week one... but lost in week two. He had clearly been the hardest working and most productive on his team and Mr. Trump seemed to especially favor him. Moreover, he had the exemption and could not be fired. All he had to do was sit back and make insightful comments about his teammates.

But Bradford let his cockiness get in the way of sound business judgment. He bragged to Mr. Trump that he was so confident of his performance he was willing to give up his exemption.

Trump accepted Bradford's offer... and then fired him, for making an unwise and impulsive decision. It was a harsh, but instructive consequence for acting in a rash manner.

One of the things I can think of with this is somebody who is too impulsive is not paying attention to others. A relationship is a two way street involving both parties. When somebody is being impulsive and the other person isn't respective than this creates a dead end.

6. Instill Confidence in Your Team

Both of the final two contestants, Kelly and Jennifer M, demonstrated how to respect and inspire their co-workers. Choosing people you trust and with whom you have mutual respect goes a long way toward success.

In the final episode, eight of the previously fired teammates were brought back to become the support team for the final task. Jennifer and Kelly were allowed to take turns choosing their team members. Kelly took a stronger role with his team, expecting more of each of them, while Jennifer delegated the heavy lifting to herself.

In the end, both sets of teams did a great job for their PMs, but Kelly's team proved more loyal and spoke more highly of his leadership abilities. Their confidence in him had an impact on the final outcome.

This can be taken in installing confidence in who you are attracted to. When you are interested in them and extremely confident. Others will feel your true feelings. When they can feel your feelings they will mirror them. Who wants to be around somebody who takes away their confidence?

7. Watch What You Say

Both talking too much and saying the wrong thing can hurt you in business. Jennifer C was an example of both errors and their consequences. Every time she appeared in The Boardroom, Jennifer was admonished by both Mr. Trump and his property manager, Carolyn, for talking when she should have been listening to others.

Later, after making a demeaning comment about two women customers in an episode, she was booted from the show. To add injury to her insult, when the show finally aired, she was also fired from her real world job for that comment.

This applies to dating with the idea of listening is just as important as talking. Telling somebody they are pretty when they are trying to make a point and have something important to say is not what they want to hear. The same would go for things such a negative hits or being cocky and funny which are terms used in the seduction community.

A negative hit is a slight insult which is supposed to be insulting but not seem like you meant it. I do not usually endorse this. It is to try to convey you are not really interested in your target person to let their guard down.

Somebody who is being very cocky and funny can do so at the wrong time too. When a person is showing signs of interest they are asking for rapport. Giving them answers that are cocky and funny will actually break rapport and chase a lot of people away.

8. Know When to Listen

During another visit to The Boardroom, Trump chastised (National Debate Champion) Andy for not standing up and arguing in his own behalf. Andy shot back to Mr. Trump that part of being a debate champ is in knowing when to talk and when to listen.

A short and sweet argument that paid off.

I think this and how it applies to dating and seduction is very obvious. Listening is a key part of communication.

9. Keep it Strictly Business

Viewers were told - over and over - that The Apprentice contestants were culled from over a million applicants and were said to be the best of the very best. This being so, one wouldn't expect the male participants to lose their composure when attractive women crossed their paths, mid-task. And yet, there was Raj. In addition to an unending stream of inappropriate comments, Raj stopped just short of a butt wiggle and a "woooo, whooo " whenever a beautiful woman was within ten feet.

And while this behavior did not directly lead to his being fired, it did (often) cause him to lose focus and take his eye off the prize. In fact, Raj was ultimately fired for letting an important detail slide - making sure the toilet was installed in a home he was charged with remodeling.

This is a little bit more difficult to summarize for dating. Somebody who lacks focus tends to lack drive. When you really have a goal in mind going after 20 different things usually gets somebody nowhere.

10. Avoid Showing Your A**

This one should be a no-brainer, but since it actually happened, maybe not. Fairly late in the game, in episode 13, Ivana was desperate for a win. Clutching at straws, she offered to pull down her skirt and flash her underwear to a strange businessman on the street if he would pay her twenty dollars for a candy bar worth one dollar. He did... and then she did... So, it was no surprise that Ivana wound up in The Boardroom, having to explain this gaff to Mr. Trump. She claimed her action as a &gimmick.' But this taught us another valuable lesson - know when you have done something inappropriate and face it head on. When she refused to acknowledge that she crossed a line, the shock, dismay and controversy surrounding her behavior was palpable.

Well this is true but there is a time to show you're a** and a time not to show your assets. When you first meet somebody common sense says don't take off your pants as the first things you do when introducing yourself.
